Gary "Mani" Mounfield, the legendary bassist for The Stone Roses and Primal Scream, has died at the age of 63. His passing was attributed to "respiratory issues" stemming from a long-standing lung condition, and he died peacefully in his sleep. Mani's death occurred almost exactly two years after the loss of his wife, Imelda, who passed away at the age of 50 on November 18, 2023.
His funeral service was held at Manchester Cathedral, with a procession beginning from his home in Stockport. The service saw a significant turnout of fellow musicians and public figures, including David Beckham, Paul Weller, Gary Neville, Liam Gallagher, and Ian Brown. Notably, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and Stone Roses star Ian Brown were among those who had the honor of carrying Mani's coffin. His death has been met with widespread tributes, acknowledging his significant contributions to music.
