Tyler Robinson, the suspect accused in the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, allegedly sent casual messages on Discord about the shooting approximately 80 minutes after the attack. Robinson had been exchanging routine messages with a friend earlier that day. Authorities allege that Robinson later went to the Utah Valley University campus, where Kirk was scheduled to speak, and shot him during the event.
Following the shooting, Robinson allegedly messaged a friend on Discord, asking, "you see this news?????" Subsequent messages attributed to Robinson stated, "utah gets a national headline for the first time in a while and it’s someone sliming charlie kirk," followed by, "no like an hour ago," and, "he’s reported dead, and the footage looks BAD." He also reportedly joined a voice chat and discussed the shooting with friends, commenting that Kirk "got hit pretty bad" and that he was "pretty sure he's dead."
Robinson fled the scene and was later arrested. He faces charges including aggravated murder, and prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty. Robinson has not yet entered a plea, and his attorneys declined to comment. He also reportedly declined to answer questions from reporters, stating, "I can’t answer any questions."
