A 20-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly attacking five people with a crowbar at Newton Community Hospital in Newton-le-Willows. The suspect reportedly became agitated when his request for medical consultation was denied, subsequently damaging furniture before assaulting individuals.
The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are being treated by paramedics. The suspect, originally from Afghanistan, faces charges including five counts of Section 18 assault, affray, and criminal damage, and is in police custody.
Police have cordoned off the area and are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information.
