At the Pride Of Britain Awards in October, when asked about participating in the program, McGuinness, who is approached annually, admitted that while leaving her children for Australia had always been daunting, she felt inclined to say "f*** it, why not" this year. This statement was interpreted by many as confirmation of her involvement. However, McGuinness was noticeably absent from the official cast reveal, which included Kelly Brook, Jack Osbourne, and Martin Kemp. An insider stated that show bosses were confused by her comments, believing she should have dismissed speculation rather than hinting at her participation, which apparently angered those behind the scenes. McGuinness herself had previously explained that she couldn't imagine being away from her children for an extended period and had a fear of creepy crawlies and flying outside of Europe, but conceded "never say never."
