Father of Southport killer Axel Rudakubana regrets not reporting machete delivery, inquiry hears

Alphonse Rudakubana, father of the Southport killer Axel Rudakubana, expressed deep regret during an inquiry for not reporting a machete delivery to the police. His then-teenage son, Axel, who is now serving a life sentence for the murders of three young girls, had a weapon ordered under a false name and delivered to their home. Alphonse admitted to hiding the machete from Axel and not questioning him about it, believing that doing so would have prevented the tragic events of July 29th last year. Alphonse Rudakubana revealed that he hid the first machete after its delivery in June 2023, but did not ask his son any questions about it, fearing Axel's reaction. He also mentioned finding a bow and arrow under his son's bed. He could not confirm who received a second machete delivery in October 2023 but stated he would have called the police if he had known it was a knife.
