A 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following three deliberately started house fires in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire. Emergency services responded to the fires, which police believe are linked and caused by the same individual, within a 14-minute window on Friday morning.
The fires occurred in Holywell Avenue, Prestop Drive, and Clifton Drive. Two teenagers and a woman were taken to the hospital to be treated for burn injuries and smoke inhalation.
Their injuries are not considered life-threatening or life-changing. Leicestershire Police stated the investigation is in its early stages but confirmed their belief that the incidents are linked and intentionally started by one person.
A road closure is in effect on B6006 Smisby Road, and motorists are advised to avoid the area due to expected delays. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
