Lyudmila Braun, a 76-year-old woman, was killed in Brooklyn when a solar panel detached from a steel carport structure during high winds and struck her as she was out grocery shopping. The panel, measuring 41 inches by 87 inches, reportedly blew about 20 feet into the path where she was walking.
Her husband, Mark Braun, 81, stated that Lyudmila had left their home to buy groceries at the time of the incident. He received a call from a hospital nurse informing him of the tragedy. Lyudmila was pronounced dead en route to the hospital.
