Peter Greene's manager, Gregg Edwards, has shared details of his last conversation with the actor days before his death. Edwards stated that their phone call on December 10th was "totally normal" and that they spoke to comfort each other ahead of Greene's surgery for a benign lung tumor and Edwards' own hernia surgery.
Greene expressed some nervousness about the operation but indicated it wasn't considered highly serious. They had been friends for over a decade, and Edwards described Greene as a good friend who was generous and deeply missed.
Greene was found dead in his New York City apartment on Friday, December 12th, at the age of 60. A wellness check was initiated after music had been playing from his apartment for over 24 consecutive hours. Edwards remembered Greene as one of the best character actors, particularly adept at playing villains, but also possessing a hidden gentle side and a big heart.
At the time of his passing, Greene was involved in two upcoming projects: "Mascots" with Mickey Rourke and "From the American People: The Withdrawal of USAID," a documentary he was co-producing and narrating, aimed at raising awareness about global deaths linked to USAID's dismantling. Edwards suggested supporting this documentary as a way to honor Greene's memory.
