Nine individuals have been arrested in Birmingham following widespread disorder involving fireworks. The incidents began around 9 PM on Friday with fireworks being thrown dangerously near New Street. Later, at approximately 2:15 AM on Saturday, a group launched fireworks towards buildings and police officers on Bagot Street. Footage circulating online depicted fireworks being fired at a bus and a group of masked individuals.
West Midlands Police responded to the reports of "pockets of disorder" and took swift action. The nine people arrested range in age from 13 to 23 and were detained in connection with public order offenses, throwing fireworks, and possession of an offensive weapon. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the firework incidents.
