Muslim group with ‘deep’ terrorist ties huge backer of Mamdani campaign: documents

A Muslim civil rights group described as having "deep ties to terrorist organizations" is a significant financial backer of Zohran Mamdani's mayoral campaign. The Unity and Justice Fund political action committee, which has donated $120,000 to Mamdani's campaign, is linked to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Public records indicate that the Unity and Justice PAC shares addresses and personnel with CAIR, and its treasurer, Basim Elkarra, is a former executive director of CAIR California. Another PAC linked to CAIR California, Unity Lab PAC, also contributed to Mamdani's campaign. Radical anti-Israel activist Linda Sarsour stated that CAIR and its affiliated PACs have provided the primary institutional support for Mamdani's campaign, emphasizing the significant role of Muslim-American donors. Elkarra has publicly supported the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement and has made comparisons between Israel and apartheid South Africa.
