Dwight Yorke, a former Manchester United striker, has warned manager Ruben Amorim about a potential pitfall regarding new signing Benjamin Sesko. Yorke believes United might be making a similar mistake with Sesko as they did with Rasmus Hojlund, suggesting the team is not creating enough chances or playing to Sesko's strengths. Sesko, who joined from RB Leipzig for nearly £74 million, has had a slow start, scoring only twice in 15 Premier League appearances and not finding the net since early October.
Yorke emphasized that strikers are judged on goals, and while Sesko's work rate is evident, the team is still adapting to playing with him. He feels Manchester United could improve by historically delivering more creative balls to their number nine and finding a way to play that utilizes Sesko's strengths. Yorke noted that if the team doesn't create chances for Sesko, frustration will inevitably set in, similar to what was observed with Hojlund, who has since improved significantly after moving to Napoli.
Following the team's disappointing 1-1 draw with Wolves, Amorim attributed the lack of fluidity and chance creation to player absences due to injuries and the Africa Cup of Nations. He expressed the need to recover players and for those returning from AFCON to regain the team's fluidity and quality. Despite these challenges, Manchester United is currently sixth in the Premier League table and is scheduled to play Leeds next.
