The M2 motorway in Kent has been closed in both directions between Junction 5 (Sittingbourne) and Junction 4 (Rochester) following a serious collision involving a car and a motorbike. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene around 6:30 AM, initially leading to the closure of the westbound carriageway.
Approximately an hour later, Kent Police requested the closure of the eastbound carriageway as well, citing the nature of the incident. National Highways has not yet provided an estimated time for the road's reopening and has implemented diversion routes for affected traffic.
Despite the closure, traffic maps indicate only minor delays, with traffic generally coping well around the diversion points.
