The A20 Ashford Road at Hothfield was closed for two hours following an accident caused by poor driving conditions, and the road was also reported as flooded in sections.
The Isle of Sheppey experienced flooding on Halfway Road and Lower Road, and the Sheppey Leisure Complex was damaged by a fallen tree. Elsewhere, the A2 near Gravesend had queueing traffic due to a lorry fire, and the A249 southbound was partially blocked by an accident, causing significant delays. Heavy congestion was also reported on the QE2 Bridge at Dartford.
Cross-channel ferry services between Dover and Calais experienced delays of up to 90 minutes due to the poor weather. On the M20, a tree fell onto the London-bound carriageway, and various other roads, including the A26 in Maidstone and the A21 Tonbridge Bypass, were affected by flooding or accidents.
The A251 Faversham Road in Boughton Lees was closed in both directions due to a multi-vehicle accident, a fallen tree, and fallen power cables. Southeastern Railway services to Maidstone East from Ashford were disrupted by a tree on the railway line. Flooding also affected back roads in Guston near Dover.
