A private jet, a Bombardier Challenger 600, crashed shortly after takeoff from Bangor International Airport around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday evening, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The incident occurred as Winter Storm Fern was battering the state with heavy snowfall and below-freezing temperatures.
Emergency crews responded to the crash, and the airport has been closed while first responders assess the situation. The plane is registered to a limited liability corporation based in Houston.
The condition of the eight passengers on board is not immediately clear. The FAA stated that the incident is under investigation, and both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will be involved in determining the cause of the crash.
