He described his time in an Essex hospital as "like living in hell," alleging that staff mistreated patients, treating him "like a slave" and deriving pleasure from causing distress. Bruno stated his room was small and lacked amenities like a television, and even supervised trips to the toilet were necessary. He believes the staff should be sacked for their actions. Following his three-week discharge, Bruno found himself struggling to cope at home, heavily medicated and unsure how to rebuild his life. He claims the powerful drugs prescribed made him feel like a "zombie" and that he had to fight to avoid lifelong medication, a process he described as "fighting for my own mind back" through psychiatric evaluations, maintaining a routine, and physical activity.
