A passenger train carrying approximately 200 people collided with a lorry at a level crossing in Meteren, Netherlands. The incident occurred when the lorry, after crossing the tracks, began to reverse as a car approached from the opposite direction. The train, moving at speed, was unable to stop and struck the rear of the lorry.
