Joshua Allen's girlfriend, Dy'Zetta Brown, is speaking out about the fight that occurred at his funeral, claiming she was invited by family before an aunt allegedly attacked her. The altercation, captured in a viral video, happened after police were called twice to the funeral, with Allen's maternal family reportedly telling officers Brown had a restraining order against him.
Brown was not removed and returned to the open casket after allowing other family members space. Brown confirmed she did have a restraining order against Allen at one point, explaining it was a 90-day emergency protective order from July to September 22, implemented due to previous mental health incidents.
She stated she did not want him jailed but rather to receive help, and that the system made decisions not in his best interest. She also clarified that she and Allen were not exes but had been together for nearly four years, and his funeral date marked their one-year anniversary of living together.
Brown described Allen as the love of her life and expressed their plans for marriage, children, and a home, stating they were inseparable until his arrest over the summer. She believes he wanted to work on their relationship.
Both Brown and Allen's father confirmed he struggled with mental health issues before his death, which occurred in September after he was struck by a train. Brown recounted her efforts to get Allen help after noticing signs of intense attachment, jealousy, and paranoia during their second year of dating.
She claims she warned family, classmates, and law enforcement about her concerns, pleading for mental health assistance rather than arrest. She also stated that three days before his death, she contacted his probation officer about her fears, and the response was to "record him so we can send him back to jail." Brown believes the system failed both Allen and herself, remembering him as a kind and talented individual.
TMZ has attempted to reach Allen's maternal family for comment without success.
