A Texas State Trooper involved in an incident with South Carolina football players during a game against Texas A&M has been sent home and relieved of his game-day duties. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed they are aware of the incident, that the trooper was removed from the game, and that their Office of Inspector General will investigate further.
The encounter occurred in the tunnel as South Carolina players, including a player who had exited the field after an injury, were returning to the sideline. The trooper, walking in the opposite direction, bumped into the players and then turned to point at them while speaking.
The incident was captured on video and shared online. This event was one of several notable occurrences during the game, which saw Texas A&M stage a significant second-half comeback to win.
