Troy Trojans starting wide receiver DJ Epps intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal when it opens on January 2, his agent confirmed. Epps will have one year of eligibility remaining.
This decision follows Troy's Salute to Veterans Bowl game against Jax State, where Epps recorded two receptions for 18 yards and three kick returns for 140 yards, including a 79-yard long. Throughout the current season, Epps participated in all 14 games, leading the team with 47 receptions for 512 yards and five touchdowns, ranking second in receiving yards and tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns.
He also contributed significantly on special teams, returning 23 kicks for 554 yards. Earlier in his career, Epps had a career-high performance with 148 receiving yards and two touchdowns against Texas State on October 11. He also played in six games in 2024, contributing on special teams for 17 snaps.
Epps is not the only Troy player planning to enter the transfer portal; running back Tae Meadows and offensive linemen Zerian Hudson and Paul Bowling have also announced similar intentions.
