Democrats have been criticized as "reckless" for sharing a post on their official X account that presented a misleading account of the events leading to the fatal shooting of protester Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent. The post featured an image of Good's alleged "last words" and implied she was immediately shot and called a derogatory name by an ICE agent, omitting crucial context. Conservative commentator Noah Rothman and other social media users condemned the post, with some labeling the action as "deliberate" and intended to sow division.
New video footage released by ICE agent Jonathan Ross depicts the confrontation: Good was in the driver's seat of her car, while her wife, Rebecca, was outside. As Ross recorded, Good addressed him calmly, but Rebecca began to taunt the federal officer. When another agent ordered Good out of the vehicle, Rebecca urged her wife to "drive, baby, drive." Good then drove away, hitting Ross, which prompted him to fire his weapon. In the aftermath, Rebecca was heard lamenting, "It's my fault."
