Colman Domingo, an Oscar-nominated actor, will deliver Temple University's commencement speech for the class of 2026 on May 6. He will also be awarded an honorary degree during the ceremony at the Liacouras Center.
Domingo attended Temple in the 1980s, studying journalism, but left before completing his degree to pursue acting. He expressed gratitude for the honorary doctorate, noting its significance given his past struggles balancing work and school.
He attributes his career trajectory to a drama professor who recognized his talent. Domingo, who grew up in West Philadelphia, has achieved significant recognition in recent years, including an Emmy for "Euphoria" and consecutive Oscar nominations for "Rustin" and "Sing Sing." He is also set to voice the cowardly lion in the upcoming film "Wicked: For Good."
