The White House, through Communications Director Steven Cheung, has publicly urged the Nobel Foundation to acknowledge President Trump's "unprecedented accomplishments," even if he cannot be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. This demand follows an incident where Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado presented Trump with her 2023 Nobel Peace Prize medal during a meeting.
The Nobel Foundation has stated that prizes cannot be symbolically passed on or distributed, as they are awarded based on specific criteria of benefiting humankind. Cheung criticized the foundation's stance, asserting that Trump "rightfully deserves the Nobel Peace Prize" for his alleged role in ending global conflicts.
Machado, who won the prize for her work in Venezuela, had previously announced her intention to dedicate it to Trump, who had been exerting pressure on the Venezuelan government.
