Marc Guehi, Crystal Palace's captain, is nearing a £20 million transfer to Manchester City. The 25-year-old England international is scheduled for a medical on Sunday and has already agreed to personal terms with City. The move follows recent injuries to City's defenders Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias, prompting the club to initiate talks with Guehi this month.
Guehi, whose contract with Palace was set to expire this summer, had previously been linked with other major European clubs and was close to joining Liverpool last summer. He played a key role in leading Crystal Palace to their first major trophy, the FA Cup, defeating Manchester City in the final. Guehi has made 188 appearances for Palace since his 2020 transfer from Swansea, including 33 appearances this season during their Europa Conference League campaign.
The anticipated transfer is believed to have influenced Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner's decision to announce his departure at the end of the season. Manchester City has also recently completed a £62.5 million signing of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.
