Manhattan-sized interstellar object 3I/ATLAS has shown signs of accelerating in a way not attributable to gravity and has appeared bluer than the Sun. Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb suggests these observations, particularly the unusual acceleration and hue, could indicate the presence of an artificial "engine" on the object, rather than it being a natural comet.
While telescopes on Earth were unable to get a clear view, instruments orbiting the Sun closer to Earth did capture data showing the object brightening rapidly and exhibiting a distinctly blue color. This contrasts with earlier observations that suggested a different appearance, and Loeb posits this bluer color could be explained by a hot engine or artificial light source.
NASA's Acting Administrator has downplayed concerns, stating that 3I/ATLAS is simply the third interstellar comet observed and poses no threat, explicitly denying any alien involvement. However, researchers are awaiting further observations in December when 3I/ATLAS makes its closest approach to Earth. If a large gas cloud,... download the app to read more
