Olympic snowboarder Ryan Wedding is accused of ordering the murder of a federal witness in Colombia. Wedding, who competed in the 2002 Winter Olympics, allegedly became Canada's largest cocaine dealer and a leader of a violent drug trafficking organization.
After being indicted in late 2024 on charges including murder and drugs, Wedding allegedly placed a bounty on a witness who was scheduled to testify against him. The witness was shot and killed on January 31, 2025, in Medellin, Colombia.
Authorities claim Wedding used a Canadian website to post photos of the witness and his wife to facilitate his location. Wedding is reported to collaborate with the Sinaloa cartel to import approximately 60 metric tons of cocaine annually into Los Angeles for distribution in the U.S.
and Canada. The U.S.
government has indicted over 35 individuals in connection with this organization, seized over 2,000 kilos of cocaine and weapons, and recovered substantial cryptocurrency and physical assets. In addition to his existing charges, Wedding now faces new charges for murder, witness intimidation, money laundering, and drug trafficking.
The U.S. State Department has issued a $15 million reward for information leading to his arrest.
