Comet 3I/ATLAS now visible from Earth with a small telescope — here’s how to see it

Comet 3I/ATLAS is now visible from Earth using small telescopes, contrary to some previous claims of its disappearance. Astronomer Yicheng Zhang successfully captured an image of the comet on November 1st, describing it as a "slightly fuzzy dot." Zhang explained that its increased visibility is due to its position, rising early in the morning twilight, and the capabilities of telescopes designed for comet observation. Previously, the comet was lost in solar glare as it shifted behind the Sun. However, experts like Zhang argue that its perceived invisibility was due to the limitations of certain large telescopes, which cannot point close to the Sun without risking damage to their instruments. Zhang utilized a Lowell Discovery Telescope, specifically designed for comet observation, which can point closer to the horizon.
