Seventeen-year-old Lainie Williams was discovered dead in a pool of blood at her home in South Wales. Her mother, 38-year-old Rhian Stephens, was also injured during the incident but managed to escape. Police have arrested an 18-year-old man from a nearby town on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
The attack occurred around 7 am at the family's semi-detached home. Neighbors reported hearing sirens and helicopters shortly after waking up. Police were alerted by a 999 call reporting two attacks at the property. Paramedics and armed officers responded to the scene.
Lainie Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. Her mother, Rhian Stephens, was taken to the hospital for treatment. Detective Superintendent Philip O'Connell stated that police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident due to the arrest. Increased police presence in the area is expected as inquiries continue.
