Timothy Shane, an inmate described as armed and dangerous, escaped from Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after a suicide attempt. He was taken to the hospital around 8 p.m. Sunday for evaluation and fled on foot in the early hours of Monday morning.
Shane then allegedly stole an SUV parked nearby. The owner of the SUV reported that a Glock handgun was also missing from the vehicle. Shortly after the theft, Shane was involved in an accident with the stolen SUV and fled the scene on foot again.
Authorities have issued warnings that Shane should be considered armed and dangerous, and multiple law enforcement units are actively searching for him. He is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a buzzed haircut, last seen wearing a blue hospital gown and no shoes. It remains unclear how he managed to escape the hospital, which has a policy requiring one-to-one oversight of inmates receiving treatment. As of Monday evening, there were no new updates on his whereabouts.
