Five young people, all in their early 20s, were killed in a devastating two-car collision on the evening of Saturday, November 15, on Ardee Road near Dundalk, County Louth, in the Republic of Ireland. The victims have been identified as Chloe McGee, 23; Alan McCluskey, 23; Dylan Commins, 23; Shay Duffy, 21; and Chloe Hipson, 21.
The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Toyota Land Cruiser. The five deceased were all occupants of the Volkswagen Golf, which sustained severe damage.
Another occupant of the Golf, a man in his 20s, and two occupants of the Toyota Land Cruiser, a male and a female, were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities expressed profound shock and sadness over the incident, with Taoiseach Micheál Martin calling it a "horrific road crash." The An Garda Síochána superintendent extended condolences to the families and acknowledged the challenging conditions and the professionalism of the first responders at the scene.
Investigations, including post-mortem examinations, are underway. Tributes have begun to emerge, with one of the victims, Chloe McGee, a teacher, being remembered as a vibrant and skilled individual.
