Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the chairman of Manchester City, has been appointed to Donald Trump's "Board of Peace." This initiative, established to maintain a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, was inaugurated on Thursday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Al Mubarak was present to sign up to the board, representing the United Arab Emirates.
Al Mubarak holds several senior positions within the United Arab Emirates government, including being the CEO of the Mubadala Investment Company and the founding Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority in Abu Dhabi. He has also served as Manchester City's chairman since 2008, following the club's purchase by Sheikh Mansour.
Donald Trump stated that "everyone wants to be a part" of the Board of Peace, which he envisions as a body that could eventually rival the United Nations. He claimed that 59 countries had signed on, with only two from Europe. However, some nations, including Britain, Norway, Sweden, and France, have indicated they will not participate in the board. Britain's foreign secretary cited potential Russian President Vladimir Putin's involvement as a reason for not signing on.
