New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is in good condition after being shot twice in the abdomen outside a Midtown Manhattan establishment. His close friend, Ernest Quander, provided this update, stating Boyd is doing well and is a "soldier." Boyd was critically wounded and reportedly clinging to life after the shooting, which occurred around 2 a.m.
on a Sunday. Two luxury vehicles, one believed to have been occupied by the gunman, fled the scene.
Boyd, 29, was taken to Bellevue Hospital and was initially in critical but stable condition, slipping in and out of consciousness. Quander, who has known Boyd since his college days at the University of Texas and considers himself a father figure, was en route to New York City to be with his friend.
Boyd had joined the Jets at the start of the season but had not yet played in a game.
