Keane Mulready-Woods, a 17-year-old, was abducted, tortured, and dismembered in a brutal gangland murder in Drogheda, Ireland, in January 2020. He was lured to a house on January 12th, where he was subjected to severe violence, including decapitation. His remains were subsequently scattered, with limbs found in a sports bag on a footpath and his head, hands, and feet discovered days later in a burnt-out car in Dublin.
This shocking crime is believed to be a retaliation for the murder of Richie Carberry in November 2019, with prime suspect Robbie Lawlor allegedly targeting Keane because he suspected the teenager's involvement. Lawlor, a ruthless figure with a long criminal history, reportedly escalated his violence beyond a "punishment beating" to dismemberment. Prior to his disappearance, Keane had called his mother, stating he would be home late and asking her to leave taxi money out. He had been working as a drug runner for a local gang and was on license at the time of his death, having previously been convicted of intimidating a mother over her child's drug debts.
Keane's murder triggered a series of revenge attacks, leading to the execution of Robbie Lawlor, who was shot while collecting a drug debt. Lawlor was obsessed with Keane and determined to kill him, reportedly taking his violence to an extreme level by dismembering the teenager and taunting rivals. In February 2023, Paul Crosby was sentenced to 10 years for his role in Keane's killing, with Gerard Cruise receiving seven years, and Gerard McKenna confessing to disposing of evidence. Keane's mother, Elizabeth, expressed her profound grief and trauma in a victim impact statement, describing the inhumane and barbaric nature of her son's death and the lasting nightmares it has caused.
