A fire at the South Carolina home of Circuit Judge Diane Goodstein resulted in the injury of her husband, an 81-year-old Vietnam War veteran, and other family members. The judge's husband, Arnold Goodstein, leapt from a second-story window to escape the blaze, sustaining leg injuries. Panicked 911 calls from inside the home reveal that at least four people were trapped on the second floor as flames engulfed the lower level, and there were concerns about explosions from a propane tank. The fire was initially labeled suspicious by deputies due to documented threats made against the judge and worries about targeted attacks on the Jewish community, although no obvious signs of criminal activity were found. Despite the severity of the fire, which leveled the home, all occupants were able to escape and survived.
