Platinum Gaming, the operator of Unibet and uk.bingo.com, has been fined £10 million by the Gambling Commission for significant failures in social responsibility and anti-money laundering procedures. This is the second enforcement action against the company, following a £2.9 million fine in 2023.
The Gambling Commission highlighted several critical social responsibility failings, including allowing a new customer to lose £5,000 within 24 hours of registration and over £16,000 in under three months. The operator also failed to intervene with a customer who lost more than £31,000 in nine months, breaching their monthly loss limit six times. Another instance involved failing to interact with a customer who exceeded a £2,500 loss limit within 16 minutes of opening an account, indicating a failure to identify potential harm.
As a consequence of these "serious shortcomings" in customer interaction systems and identifying markers of harm, Platinum Gaming must now undergo a third-party audit to verify the effective application... download the app to read more
