King Charles has donated over £50,000 to repair the roof of St Peter and St Paul Parish Church in West Newton, Norfolk, a church that was a favorite of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II. The monarch contributed £50,900 through the privy purse last year to the West Newton Roof Fund.
The Grade Two listed church is located on the Royal Sandringham Estate, where the late Queen frequently attended services and held annual prize-giving ceremonies. This is not the first time the royal family has supported the church's restoration, with past contributions dating back to the 19th century.
The church requires approximately £200,000 for comprehensive repairs, which include addressing cracks in the walls and planned maintenance for the stonework, in addition to the urgent roof work. Around £78,000 has been raised so far, and the church is also seeking grants to fund the most critical repairs.
