Ben Affleck playfully commented on his physique in relation to Matt Damon's while attending the premiere of their new crime thriller, "The Rip." Affleck joked that he was in "just a little bit better" shape than Damon, referencing a brief shirtless scene in "The Rip" where he showcases his abs. Damon had previously garnered attention for his muscular appearance in his upcoming film, "The Odyssey."
Damon quipped that Affleck might have written the shirtless scene in "The Rip" after seeing photos of Damon filming "The Odyssey" shirtless, prompting Affleck to hit the gym. Affleck then joked that the scene was "about me, really." Damon further teased that cinematographer Juanmi Azpiroz used specific lighting techniques in "The Rip" to enhance Affleck's appearance, unlike the natural sunlight used for "The Odyssey." Affleck responded by downplaying his physical advantage, stating he was "just a little bit better" in shape.
Damon had previously revealed on the "New Heights" podcast that he filmed "The Odyssey" at 167 pounds, his lightest weight since high school, and had cut out gluten as part of his preparation. He described the physical regimen as a routine part of the job, similar to a "season" for athletes. "The Rip," which also stars Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, and Kyle Chandler, follows a group of Miami police officers who uncover a large sum of money and face a crisis of trust as the information spreads. The film is currently available on Netflix.
