Malik Nabers, a wide receiver for the New York Giants, expressed frustration with his team's late-game decisions following their overtime loss to the Detroit Lions. He posted on social media, which he later deleted, questioning play-calling in the fourth quarter, specifically the decision to go for it on fourth down while leading by three points.
Nabers argued that the team should have run the ball to force the Lions to use timeouts and then kicked a field goal, instead of turning the ball over and allowing the Lions to tie the game. The drive in question involved the Giants running 14 plays for 86 yards without scoring, ending with an incomplete pass in the end zone.
Following this, the Lions embarked on a 13-play drive that resulted in a game-tying 59-yard field goal. The Giants were unable to respond, and the game proceeded to overtime where the Lions scored a touchdown on their first play to secure a 34-27 victory.
Nabers has been sidelined with a torn ACL since September 28th. The Giants' loss to the Lions dropped their record to 2-10, officially eliminating them from playoff contention.
