A human skull was found by a survey crew in a wooded area near Michigan Avenue and Newburgh Road in Wayne, Michigan, on November 13. Police believe this discovery may be linked to an investigation from March, when other skeletal remains were found in the vicinity.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct lab work on the skull to attempt identification. The remains found in March have also not yet been identified.
A forensic anthropologist stated that the skull will aid officials in creating a more complete biological profile of the unidentified individual, potentially comparing it to missing persons reports and medical records. Officials have not yet determined a cause of death, and the investigation is ongoing.
