Wolfers described being baffled by Trump's direct falsehoods regarding the economic situation.
He presented his view of the economic reality, which is that many people are experiencing difficulties. While he doesn't believe the economy is bad enough to warrant talk of a recession, he characterized it as a "middling, B+ economy" and expressed concern that a downturn could significantly worsen the situation.
