Peter Smith, a 70-year-old man, tragically died after a helicopter crash in a field in Bentley, Doncaster, on Thursday morning. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The helicopter involved was a private Robinson R44 Raven II, which had departed from Gamston airport. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by South Yorkshire Police and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.
Mr. Smith's family released a statement remembering him as a "beloved husband, father and grandfather" who possessed a strong "passion for aviation." Two other individuals on board the helicopter suffered minor injuries.
