The Omoda 7, a new mid-size SUV from the Chinese car maker Omoda, is set to launch in Britain in January 2026. Positioned between the Omoda 5 and 9 models, it will be available from £29,915, offering an affordable option in the family SUV market. Omoda, a Chery-owned brand that launched in the UK in August 2024, already holds a 1.45% market share and is experiencing growth within the current Chinese car boom in Britain.
The Omoda 7 is designed with British lifestyles in mind, featuring an "Art in Motion" design philosophy emphasizing aerodynamics, with a borderless grille and distinctive LED headlights and taillights. It will be offered in five exterior colors and two trim levels: Knight and Noble. Both trims will have three Isofix points and a 639-liter boot.
Buyers can choose between two engine specifications. The entry-level Knight trim includes features such as a heated steering wheel, dual-zone air conditioning, a six-speaker Sony audio system, wireless phone charging, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The higher Noble trim enhances luxury with a 12-speaker sound system, electric front seats, heated and ventilated gaming-inspired seats, a power tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, 20-inch alloy wheels, an air-conditioning fragrance system, and four-zone voice control.
The Omoda 7 will be available as a fast-charging plug-in hybrid with a Super Hybrid System (SHS), combining a 1.5-liter engine and an 18.3 kWh battery, offering up to 56 EV miles and a combined range of over 700 miles. This hybrid version has 201hp, accelerates from 0-62 mph in 8.4 seconds, and can charge from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes. A 1.6-liter TGDI petrol engine with 145hp, capable of 0-62 mph in 10.4 seconds, is also available. Standard safety features across all models include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist, along with a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument display.
