Police were called to the Capital retail park in Leckwith, Cardiff, on Tuesday after a man was seen with a knife. Officers from South Wales Police responded quickly to the incident. Although the suspect had initially left the scene upon police arrival, a man was arrested within 45 minutes, and a knife was recovered.
Jay Robert, 31, from Canton, was subsequently charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place. He pleaded guilty to the offense at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Wednesday and has been remanded in custody pending a pre-sentence report hearing on January 6.
Inspector Richard Lloyd stated that the police hope this update reassures the public and emphasized that South Wales Police treat all reports of knives or weapons in public seriously.
