The Dallas Cowboys, in their first game since the death of 24-year-old defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, implemented several tributes to honor his memory. Kneeland died by apparent suicide on November 6.
Before the game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Cowboys personnel and players wore special t-shirts featuring Kneeland's face and name. A locker was dedicated to him, marked with "94 forever." Further tributes included defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton wearing Kneeland's jersey.
Quarterback Dak Prescott wrote Kneeland's favorite quote, "One love," on his wrist tape. For the remainder of the season, the team will wear a "94" sticker on their helmets in honor of Kneeland's jersey number.
The Las Vegas Raiders also participated in honoring Kneeland by wearing shirts that displayed "988 Suicide Hotline" on the back and "call an audible" on the front.
