Two Bronx residents, Beyonce Johnson, 24, and Saleh Ceesay, 21, have been charged with murder and manslaughter in the fatal stabbing of Shashamanie Thompson, 30. Thompson was found unconscious in a hallway of her apartment building on Ogden Avenue with stab wounds to her face and abdomen after an altercation with her neighbor, Johnson. Authorities stated that Johnson and Thompson lived in the same building and had an ongoing dispute, though the specific cause of their argument was not detailed.
Police responded to a 911 call reporting an assault on Saturday around 10 p.m. and discovered Thompson. She was transported to Lincoln Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Johnson and Ceesay were apprehended at the scene within an hour of the police's arrival. Ceesay resides in Mott Haven, while Johnson and Thompson were building neighbors. This incident occurs as homicides have reportedly decreased in the NYPD's 44th Precinct, which encompasses Highbridge and Concourse. As of December 21, 2025, the precinct had recorded eight homicides, a decrease from sixteen during the same period in the previous year.
