Television presenter Holly Willoughby has pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention after colliding with a motorcyclist near her London home. The incident occurred on August 28 when Willoughby, driving her Mini Cooper, made a right turn into a side road without indicating. A motorcyclist on a scooter was attempting to pass her vehicle at the time of the turn, resulting in a collision.
The court heard that the motorcyclist was thrown from their vehicle and suffered a fractured neck and a broken toe. Video evidence presented in court showed Willoughby executing the turn without signaling, a maneuver that led to the accident. Willoughby, 44, entered her guilty plea via post at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court, acknowledging the charge under section 3 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
Magistrates reviewed the video evidence and are now awaiting sentencing to determine the appropriate penalty for Willoughby's admitted careless driving. The offence carries potential sanctions including up to nine penalty points on her driving license, financial penalties, and in more serious cases, a driving disqualification. The date for sentencing has not yet been set.
