A spokesperson for Mamdani confirmed the meeting, stating that the mayor-elect plans to discuss public safety, economic security, and affordability with the President, which were key issues in his campaign.
Mamdani's administration has expressed concern that current policies are negatively impacting New Yorkers and intends to advocate for changes to improve affordability. Trump had previously indicated a willingness to meet with the mayor-elect, expressing a desire for things to "work out well for New York."
