The university police department later announced that the officer was sent home. NBA star LeBron James publicly called for the officer to be suspended for his actions, deeming them "premeditated and corny." The incident occurred during a game where South Carolina initially led Texas A&M by a score of 27-3.
However, Texas A&M mounted a significant comeback in the second half, outscoring South Carolina 28-0 to secure a 31-30 victory. This comeback was the largest in school history.
Despite the controversial interaction, the game's outcome was determined by the Aggies' second-half offensive surge.
