Kentucky plane crash: death toll rises to 11 as investigators search for answers

A UPS cargo plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, killing at least 11 people and injuring 15, with some individuals still unaccounted for. Federal investigators reported that the plane's left wing caught fire and an engine detached just before the crash. The McDonnell Douglas MD-11, carrying three crew members, was en route to Honolulu. The National Transportation Safety Board has deployed at least 28 agents to the crash site, which spans a half-mile, to search for clues regarding the cause of the disaster. Airport security footage indicated the left engine detached during the takeoff roll. Both the cockpit voice recorder and data recorder have been recovered, along with the detached engine. Kentucky's governor confirmed the death toll and stated that one of the deceased was believed to be a young child.
