Spotify has introduced a new beta feature called Audiobook Recaps designed to help listeners re-engage with books they have paused. This tool provides a short, spoiler-free summary of the narrative so far, aimed at refreshing listeners' memories without revealing future plot points.
The Recap button becomes available after the initial 15-20 minutes of listening and continuously updates as the user progresses through the audiobook. Currently, this feature is accessible only on Spotify's iOS apps for mobile and desktop and is limited to a selection of English language audiobooks.
Audiobook listening on Spotify is available in a specific set of countries, including the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Liechtenstein, and Luxembourg. Spotify has developed these recaps in collaboration with its publishing partners, reflecting the company's significant investment in and expansion of its audiobook library, which now boasts millions of titles. This initiative aligns with Spotify's recent efforts to introduce new features and enhance user experience across its platform.
