A small plane crashed in Chesterfield, Missouri, on Tuesday evening, but both the pilot and the passenger on board miraculously walked away unharmed. The aircraft was on its final approach to the Spirit of St. Louis Airport when it began to descend rapidly from an altitude of approximately 1,300 feet.
The pilot’s quick thinking allowed them to deploy the plane's parachute, which significantly cushioned the impact as the aircraft crashed into a tree line. Officials described the outcome as a "miracle," noting that the men were able to get up and walk away from the wreckage.
While the exact cause is under investigation, the pilot suspects a mechanical failure. The National Transportation Safety Board is also looking into the incident. The presence and timely deployment of the parachute were crucial in preventing serious injuries.
